Elaine Windsor has always relied on her little sister Evelyn, whether to survive their tumultuous childhood or to bail her out when life's responsibilities became too overwhelming. All of that changes the night her sister is attacked in her home and left for dead. Evelyn is in a coma, her boyfriend is in the wind, and the only other suspect the police have is Elaine.

Detectives Daniels and White claim to be pursuing every lead, digging into all aspects of Evelyn’s life, but it doesn’t seem that way when Elaine finds herself brought in for questioning again and again. Helpless and desperate for answers, she recruits private investigator Jay Connolly after a chance meeting at a singles event. As he attempts to unravel the mystery of Evelyn's attack, Elaine realizes just how little she knew about her sister's life.

By the time the investigation concludes, Elaine will come face-to-face with dangers she never imagined and be put directly in the path of a killer.
